The historic Latta Plantation was constructed around 1800, and is located within the 1,343 acre Latta Nature Preserve in Huntersville. It then served as a cotton plantation, but today it is a living history farm. In addition to guided tours of the plantation home, eleven outbuildings give visitors a glimpse of life in North Carolina from 1800 to 1865 during self-guided grounds tours. During the month of October, you can take a spooky candlelight tour in the dark, and listen to ghost stories associated with the plantation.
Reported phenomena include unusual noises heard in the attic area; the sounds of unseen children playing in what where once children's bedrooms; and according to Ambrose, a walking cane was once seen to move on its own before falling to the floor.
